Mary Ann Hyatt (Maloney)
I am so sorry that work took me back to Texas and that I won't be able to be there. Think of me as there in spirit. Please tell Carol "Springs", Lana and Marilyn "Felt" that I said a special hello.
You said Mr. Deitz would be at the reunion and I would like you to tell him that I have never forgotten the drama club trip to the King DooDoo Playhouse in San Jose. It made such an impression on me to see a live play that I have been fortunate enough to have seen many live plays -- including the Kennedy Center the year it opened in 1976. I feel strongly that I would never have had this appreciation if it were not for his influence.
Despite failing Mr. Walker's bookkeeping class, I did make a career out of bookkeeping and finally became a staff accountant for several organizations including my own small business -- I never hear "Walzing Matilda" without thinking of him and his tests.
The only really good grades I got was in typing because my mother told me I would always be able to work if I could type -- she was right; I have never been unemployable because I could type -- thank those teachers for me -- I supported a son for 18 years on my ability to type and then learn computer skills.
I sure hope you guys all have a great time and that this reunion is the best success ever.
