Gary Schoennauer

After graduating from Ravenswood I went to San Jose State where I graduated in 1967, I married in 1967 and my son Erik was born on Valentine's Day in 1968.

I started work with the City of San Jose Planning Department in February of 1967 and received a Masters Degree in Urban Planning from San Jose State University in 1974. In 1980 I was appointed Director of Planning for the City of San Jose, a position I held until I retired in 1997.

I divorced in 1985, my son Erik graduated from Stanford in 1990 and has been very involved in San Jose politics that past 12 years. Erik now works with me as a planning consultant with The Schoennauer Company.

In 1989 I met the love of my life, Laura and we were married in 1993. Laura has two grown daughters, Sybil and Shea Johnson. We enjoy our semi retired life style that consists of travel, spending time with family, long stays on our boat and property in the mountains. In the past three years we have traveled to Africa, Asia, including Vietnam, Russia, South America and Central America, all across the US, Bahamas, etc. As you can see we stay pretty busy and like to have fun.
