I loved typing, shorthand and office skills at Ravenswood, so it's not surprising that I became a secretary. I initially worked at Stanford Industrial Park as an engineering secretary in the aerospace industry and then had a short stint at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. Also worked for Coherent Radiation and Shaklee.
In 1986, I had an opportunity to enter the legal field as a litigation secretary. With the serious shortage of legal secretaries, I spent the last few years freelancing at a number of Bay Area law firms. I currently work for a great law firm in San Francisco, with a beautiful view of Angel Island and the Bay (believe me, it's therapy). I "love" working in San Francisco, but I also love living in the Tri-Valley area. I live about 5 minutes from the Dublin/Pleasanton BART, so my commute is a breeze.
I home schooled 3 of my 4 children and became somewhat of a "Little House on the Prairie" mom. Yes, I even bought my wheat in 50 lb sacks and made my own bread. I think this had something to do with the fact that I was raised on a half-acre farm when we lived in East Palo Alto and was used to homegrown food, fresh eggs, etc.
Both of my daughters are stay-at-home moms (which makes me very happy). Joshua is 25 and Jonathan is 23, who are working and going to school.
In 1971 I had a life-changing experience and received Jesus Christ as my personal savior and lord. I'd always known "about" Jesus, but had never really met Him.
Life has been good to me, with many ups and downs. I think I'm finally starting to just enjoy the journey and not worry so much about the end result. The Lord truly has blessed my family and me.
