Kathe Waldow (Vinaja)

I work for the County of Santa Clara in the Roads & Airports Department, as an Engineering Tech Aide. I've been a county employee for 24 years and I'm planning on retiring at the end of this year.

My husband and I are planning on moving out of this area and relocating in the Folsom/Roseville area north east of Sacramento. We have 2 children, a son and a daughter, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

As far as remembering my home room teacher, that memory is gone for good! I do remember certain teachers though. There was Mr. Lieb-Applied Arts- who I think I had a huge crush on. Mr. Chenney-Science- who's class I really enjoyed and probably learned the most from! There was Mrs. Knapp-PE- who was a kick! and then there was Mr. Dietz-Drama. That class was a blast. I had so much fun in that class. I really loved working in the Library. It turned out that the Librarian (I forgot her name-Mrs. Sullivan I think) was an old friend of my mothers, (she used to baby-sit for me as a child). She would let me get away with murder! She would write me passes all the time! I'd go out to the "senior" parking lot and hang out with Sue Gomes in her car, smoking and drinking RC Colas!! Then there was Jiffy's and the American Legion Friday night dances!! My favorite dance partner was Jessie Perez. Oh my gosh, we had so much fun at those dances.

There are so many fond memories of those years that I don't think I can pin-point to any special one. There was my first dance! It was my Freshman year, and Greg Pascua asked me to go, the most popular boy in school, I couldn't believe my ears when he asked me-Why me? I guess I'll never know. He came to my house, then we walked to Ravenswood together and he walked me home afterward. I think I carried a crush on him from that day on for the next 4 years of school!

I had a special feeling for Larry Owensby, he was such a good friend. I'm so very sorry that he is no longer with us and won't be part of this reunion. It was because of him that I befriended Lovie Dozier. She turned out to be a very good friend and we kept in touch for many years after school. I will be looking forward to seeing her at the reunion. Then of course, there was John Perez. What a character he was, I got in so much trouble with that guy. We went to a beach party one night and Angie Cota showed up (he was dating us both at the same time). He egged me on to fight Angie that night, which I regret to this day!! I actually met my husband through John while we were dating which was probably the best thing I ever did!
